If you have read my previous blogs, you know that I am a big supporter of our President Trump. And just like me many if not most Armenians supported Mr. President for his foreign policies; how he wanted to deal with the Middle East, how he planned to put and end to ISIS… We were very happy the day he won the election because that gave us hope that he might do something to stop or limit Turkey`s destruction upon the Middle East.
A couple of days ago President Trump surprised me, my family, and I`m sure also most of his supporters; he welcomed Erdogan the President of Turkey. At first, I couldn`t believe it, it was not possible, Trump has to be smart enough to know that the man in front of him is the backbone of ISIS. Erdogan helps ISISdestroy Syria and other Middle Eastern countries, and if Trump promised us an end to ISIS how come he humbly excepts this unwanted guest in his house? during their meeting Armenians and some others peacefully protested, but Erdogan`s guards attacked them, beat women, and the elderly. The police tried to stop them, but they pushed them away and kept hitting the peaceful protesters. Confused and beaten up the protesters were on the ground bleeding.
After the incident, many people came and told me about it, but I didn`t believe what happened because in my mind it was impossible for someone to dare do something so bad; who would send their own security guards and make them attack a peaceful protest on a land that was not theirs. But the worst part was watching the video that was on Facebook; there is no way words can explain how angry, how disappointed, and how I felt betrayed that day. After all, I was a big supporter of Trump and believed that he would do all the right things, but that day I think I started to understand who he really was.
Now that I am calm and thought the whole thing over I came to a conclusion: Donald Trump will not do a lot of the things that he promised. But here`s the thing, he is the president of the United States, a very diverse country, and if he does everything that each group wants, he`ll be torn to peace. He needs to stay true to what he thinks is good for his country=\, after all, there is a reason why he is so rich and is the president of one of the strongest Nation in the world.
I will always support him even if Hilary Clinton became the president I would have supported her no matter what, because this is a democratic country and people vote, the majority will win, and we have to respect the others that voted against are will. And so I will support my president, because I have to respect him first so that other countries respect him, thus respect my country America
